What are cookies and what are they used for?
Cookies are small text files that are stored on your computer. Cookies can save personal settings and are normally used to improve the user’s browsing experience – for example, by adapting a website to suit the user’s preferences, choices, and interests.
There are two types of cookies:
- “Session cookies” that are stored temporarily and used only during the time the visitor is active on the site.
- “Lasting Cookies” that remain on the visitor’s computer for a certain amount of time and are used to recognize recurring users and to remember which tasks that was previously provided.
“Sessions cookies” are deleted when you leave the site, while “Lasting cookies” remain until they are deleted by the user. Most browsers are preset to accept cookies, but you can turn off cookies in your browser’s security settings or choose to get notified when it receives a cookie. Then you can decide whether you want to receive it or not.
